The Tyneside Cinema is on the corner of Pilgrim Street and High Friar Lane in Newcastle upon Tyne. It was built as the Bijou News-Reel Theatre in 1937-38.

The castle stands on a headland on the Northumberland coast between the villages of Craster and Embleton. The castle is the largest in Northumberland and the principal remains date from the 14th Century.

Swing Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne
The Swing Bridge spans the River Tyne, connecting Newcastle and Gateshead, and lies between the Tyne Bridge and High Level Bridge.
It has a cantilevered span with a central axis of rotation able to move through 360 degrees to allow vessels to pass on either side of it.
More importantly, my Uncle Walter worked as one of the bridge operators, back in the day!

St. Mary's Lighthouse is on the tiny St. Mary's Island, just north of Whitley Bay.
The small rocky tidal island is linked to the mainland by a short concrete causeway which is submerged at high tide.
This shot was taken at high tide, just before sunrise.

The mural depicts a coal miner with a canary in a cage. Canaries being used to warn the miners of toxic gases.
