Swing Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne
The Swing Bridge spans the River Tyne, connecting Newcastle and Gateshead, and lies between the Tyne Bridge and High Level Bridge.
It has a cantilevered span with a central axis of rotation able to move through 360 degrees to allow vessels to pass on either side of it.
More importantly, my Uncle Walter worked as one of the bridge operators, back in the day!
